Our Values and Integrity Commitments

Embodied Counseling is committed to the education, practice and embodiment of our 5 core values.

  1. Anti Racism

We are committed to challenging systemic racism in our communities, bodies, politics, and clinical practices.

  2. Anti Diet

We are committed to being anti diet, believing that restriction by any means is violent, oppressive, and traumatic to our human experience.

  3. Anti AI

We are committed to not using AI in our clinical practice, documentation, and communication. We stand with our local communities who are fighting against data centers.

  4. Integrity

We are committed to being honest, responsible, fair and respectful to our clients and colleagues. We all personally embody the values we hold in clinical practice.

  5. Fat liberation and dismantling systems that uphold fat bias.

We are committed to fat liberation principles and dismantling systems including capitalism, patriarchy, colonialism, white supremacy and other systems that hoard power, abuse and exploit people, and use violence and control to suppress the voices of marginalized people. We vehemently opposing body discrimination based on body size, gender, sexual orientation, skin color or socioeconomic status.

Land Acknowledgement

Embodied Counseling acknowledges we are on the traditional, ancestral, and contemporary lands of the Dakota people, known to them as Mni Sóta Maḳoce, the land where the waters reflect the skies. We also honor the Anishinaabe and other Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land throughout time. We recognize the centuries of violence, genocide, displacement, and forced removal perpetrated by state and federal governments to acquire this land through broken treaties.

We honor the history, the vibrant cultures, and the resilience of the Native Nations who have an enduring relationship with this territory. We recognize that words are not enough, and we commit to ongoing education, supporting tribal sovereignty, building authentic relationships, and taking meaningful action in solidarity with Indigenous communities.
